19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's initial trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

Success also signifies he has won twenty-one titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his ability to play at the highest level was concluded.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional victory, took control to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued four early-game chances in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner earned victory with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
